Includes letters in, and carbons of letters out, relating to assessment and aquisition of 20,039.10 acres of land in Cheboygan, Otsego, and Montmorency counties to be added to the Pigeon River Forest and Otsego Game Preserve. Includes copies of the deeds.

The 1925 Clark-McNary Act expanded the provisions of 1911 Federal legislation creating the National Forest System (Weeks Law). It made it easier for the United States Department of Agriculture to buy land from those sellers whose property was located within the National Forest System. The act also enabled the National Forest Service to work with state officials in forest protection and reforestation efforts.
